
Rahul Sarna, MD
Double Board Certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology
Dr. Rahul Sarna grew up just outside of Dallas in Plano, TX. He earned his degree in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduation, he began his career as a technical engineering consultant before pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a physician.
He went on to earn his M.D. from AUC in the Netherlands Antilles where he was a Dean’s List scholar and inducted into the Alpha Omega Phi Honors Society. His clinical training includes an internship in Internal Medicine at Griffin Hospital where he was the first ever unanimous faculty decision for Intern of the Year. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at The University of Connecticut, where he again was named faculty choice for Resident of the Year. He completed a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at SUNY Upstate Medical in Syracuse, NY. While there he completed chapter publications on neonatal/infant pain as well as presentations on complex regional pain syndrome.
Dr. Sarna takes a personalized and multidisciplinary approach to pain medicine, understanding that chronic pain impacts every patient differently and can be quite debilitating. He focuses on providing optimal care to help improve a patient’s quality of life and allow them to get back to the things they love to do. Dr. Sarna is highly specialized in treating a wide variety of pain conditions, including cancer pain, back/neck pain, joint pain, complex regional pain syndrome, headaches, peripheral neuropathies, abdominal pain, pelvic pain, phantom pain, and he has a special interest in stem cell therapies and neuromodulation – including both traditional and DRG stimulation.
In his free time, Dr. Sarna enjoys traveling, cooking with his wife, and playing a round of golf.

Hisham Khan, MD
Double Board Certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology
Dr. Hisham Khan, MD is a double board certified anesthesiologist and pain management doctor with years of experience in treating complex chronic pain conditions. He completed his anesthesiology residency training at Ohio State University. His pursuit of knowledge and willingness to address complex medical problems motivated him to complete additional fellowship training in interventional pain management at Ohio State University.
Dr. Khan believes in a multidisciplinary approach to pain management and works closely with colleagues in multiple specialties to accurately diagnose and treat his patients. He prides himself on formulating a treatment plan in partnership with his patients. He practices an evidence based approach and is a firm believer in offering therapies that are tailored to the individual’s needs and provide demonstrable benefit. He has a special interest in providing his patients with advanced minimally invasive surgical options such as spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation therapy among many others. He is passionate about advancing the scope of pain management. Dr. Khan has presented his work at multiple national conferences and is a lifelong learner, so he can provide his patients with innovative therapies for chronic pain.
In his free time he enjoys being outdoors, hiking and biking. He also enjoys traveling and experiencing the local dining and music scene.

Derrick Wansom, MD
Double Board Certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology
Born and raised in the Detroit metro area, Dr. Derrick Wansom attended Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and graduated with Honors in Biology. He then received a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship and spent a year studying music and culture across East Asia. Dr. Wansom earned his medical degree and completed an internship in general surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He then completed anesthesia residency and an interventional pain management fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Upon finishing his fellowship, Dr. Wansom moved to Austin, TX and practiced in Austin and Bastrop, TX for 6 years. Dr. Wansom is board certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology and practices comprehensive pain medicine. He recently was selected by his peers and awarded Top Doctor by Austin Monthly in 2022.
Chronic pain can be difficult to live with, as it affects mood, emotions, relationships and quality of life. Dr. Wansom appreciates the importance of listening to patients, understanding their individual needs, and recognizing their challenges when dealing with chronic pain. He believes that it is essential that patients comprehend the complex conditions causing their pain.
Dr. Wansom tailors customized, multi-modal treatments to their pain. He combines the latest minimally invasive interventions, targeted medical therapies, behavioral and functional therapy, and integrative care to meet each patient’s individual needs. He feels that the most gratifying aspect of pain management is facilitating functional restoration so patients can return to an active, fulfilling lifestyle.
In his free time, Dr. Wansom enjoys photography, wrenching on vintage cars, and listening to a diverse spectrum of music.
